ASK MANUEL WHY WE STOPPED
The best guide knows which question will improve the day.

The best guide is not the person with an answer for everything.
It is the person who knows which question will improve the day.
Manuel Andrade has spent roughly a decade guiding people through Cabo Verde. He works across English, Portuguese, French and Kriolu, but language is only the visible part of the job. The real skill is translation of another kind: turning a date into a human decision, a landscape into a memory and a change of plan into a better story.
He is RITE’s Lead Experience Guide & Network Coordinator. The title is long. The idea is simple.
You should never feel processed.
On Santiago, that may mean stopping the car because the valley has changed colour. On Fogo, it means respecting the local specialist who understands what the mountain is doing today. On Brava, it may mean letting two versions of a legend remain in the air instead of crushing them into one convenient fact.
Manuel is there to lead, listen and coordinate—to know when the schedule matters and when the moment matters more.
The RITE Memory Promise
We cannot guarantee cloudless skies, obedient seas, empty roads or a volcano in a cooperative mood.
We can guarantee how RITE behaves.
The agreed experience will be clear before the day begins. Material changes will be explained, never hidden. Safety can change a route without becoming an excuse to stop caring. No complaint will go unheard, and no failure within RITE’s control will be passed sideways to become the guest’s problem. We will act on what can be repaired that day and follow through on what cannot.
That is our satisfaction promise: not a claim that travel can be made perfect, but a commitment that every guest will be looked after by people who remain accountable for the memory they helped create.
Fun, in this context, is not forced laughter or a guide performing at you.
It is the story you retell before you show the photographs.
So when the car slows somewhere that was not on your mental itinerary, do not reach for the time.
Ask Manuel why we stopped.
The answer is usually the part you remember.
